My Montreal Itinerary: 2 Days
In 2023, I had the opportunity to travel to Montreal for the first time. Today, I want to share what I thought was the perfect Montreal itinerary for 2 days.
Day One: exploring your new environment
My journey started with arriving at the Four Seasons hotel along Saint-Catherine St. The staff were amazing and the hotel felt luxurious! When I arrived, I started shopping along Saint-Catherine St. with my camera in hand, which is a must if your a major shopper like me. The buildings left me awestruck and their beauty deserved plenty of photos. I would highly recommend your 2 day trip start with exploring the amazing city you just entered. I went shopping and stopped at Xing Fu Tang for some strawberry Boba. It was delicious!

My Montreal itinerary for the start of these 2 days was already filled with adventure when I began to wander through the streets of Old Montreal. When you think Montreal, you probably think about the rustic buildings and fantastic architecture. If that’s what you came to find, Old Port is the place to continue your journey. I was awestruck when I saw some of those ancient, primordial buildings towering over me. There was no specific building that was better than another, so start exploring a street that first catches your eye!
Exploring the Port
Some of the streets I went down were called Rue Notre Dame, Saint-Paul St W, and a street by the river called Prom. du Vieux Port. Each street was marvelous in its own way!
The street by the river is a must go if you love a good fair. The Ferris wheel looked terrifying to me but if you want to experience the Montreal views from up high, the La Grande roué de Montreal is a great experience for you! No matter if you hate heights or not, The Port of Montreal is a perfect walking path to trek through.
Notre Dame Light Show
After walking around for a bit, I stopped to watch the Notre Dame light show. It was amazing and had stunning lights that accentuated all the amazing sculptures throughout the building. It was so beautiful I just had to put it as my cover picture! I would definitely recommend squeezing this trip into 1 of your 2 days. There is a entry fee but I highly recommend experiencing this unique, once in a lifetime show!
By this point in your 2 day Montreal itinerary, you may be getting hungry. I sure was! On my way through Old Montreal I stopped at the sweetest café called Le Petit Dep. The building colours were stunning and the interior was even more beautiful! When I entered, I made sure to pick the best looking cupcake and a strawberry flavoured drink. A must go café if you are obsessed with cute spots.
After a long day of exploring Montreal, I ended my first day by stopping at the most scrumptious pizza place called Bevo Bar + Pizzaria for dinner. It was the perfect little spot in Old Montreal and the pizza was outstanding! Music was playing throughout the street and sitting outside enables you to still stare at the amazing buildings. A definite recommendation to have one of your 2 dinners at.
Day Two: continuing the experience
The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts
On the second day I decided to go to The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts! The art there was wonderful and it was a nice peaceful way to start the next day. If you are a big Renaissance and art buff then this is just the place for you. I loved reading all the descriptions about the buildings and art pieces. There is a small entry fee if you are over 18 but I say it is worth it!
Two of my favourite pieces
I definitely reached my step goal during this 2 day itinerary because I then decided to walk through McGill campus! McGill is one of my dream schools and the whole campus looked like it was from a fairytale. McGill has such an amazing atmosphere so if your a future student there or just want to see it in its glory, McGill is a great tourist attraction to visit.
Be warned, the walk there has plenty of steep hills.
Mount Royal Park
Just a little further past the McGill campus is the famous Mount Royal Park! The park has beautiful hiking trails that engulf you in serene nature. By this point I was exhausted but I pushed through to see the beautiful landscapes. The view at the top is worth your while and gives you another point of view to experience this wonderful city.
To end off my last night, I stopped at La Marinara for dinner. I am a big pasta fan so this was a must for me. The service was amazing and the food was divine. A great end to my 2 day Montreal itinerary. If you think you can squeeze in one last activity, I would recommend stopping at St-viateur bagel. It’s a top rated bagel place that would be a great last snack option in Montreal.
Conclusion
I hope this post brought you some ideas for your Montreal Itinerary. Safe Travels!
