Nature Scapes Photography
When you travel anywhere, there are bound to be nature scapes that would be the perfect subject for photography. I personally love taking pictures of nature and want to show you many different ways you can achieve the perfect nature photo.
Finding a good angle
Trees, mountains, flowers, and lakes are hard to photograph when taking photography of nature scapes whilst travelling. To help make it easier, you have to start by finding a good angle. I love to get low when taking pictures of close up subjects because it creates an interesting perspective. Taking a picture straight on is not nearly as interesting as taking it from the bottom of the tree or flower.
I love this palm tree photo because the picture is taken from a lower angle!
Finding a good angle could also mean using the sun or the moon as a backdrop! I love finding interesting ways to incorporate the sun into my photos. The sun could be peaking out from behind a tree or in between the petals of a flower. Overall just find a way to incorporate nature, into nature!
You may have seen images from my Montreal itinerary that showcased interesting angles. Lots of the buildings I photographed were photographed from all sides. You can do the same! Find angles that no one would ever think to snap a picture.
Picking and Sticking to one subject
You might be overwhelmed by all the different trees and flowers that you can take pictures of. I sure am! My trick is to stick to one thing.
This could be that specific mountain in the distance or that interesting tree right in front of you. Try not to take a picture of two or more things at once. If you decide that’s what you want to do, try to center one out of the multiple. This makes your image more purposeful and clean so that when someone looks at it, they focus on your favourite piece of nature.
When editing the flower photo, I used a vignette to help focus on my main subject.
Editing
My last tip is to edit your nature pictures to enhance their beauty. You can make an image moody or light all with the editing options on your phone!
I personally recommend that you make sure your photo is bright by enhancing the exposure. If your original lighting was already bright then just leave it as is.
I would then up the saturation so that your mobile photos look just as good as they do in real life.
My last optional step is to increase the clarity and add a vignette. A vignette is only needed when you don’t want everyone to focus on the background.
Conclusion
Overall, have fun with your photography! Find cool angles, enhance the natural beauty of the photo, and focus on the most beautiful thing in your picture.
